Plant Dyed, Hand Woven Tartan

Plant dyed, hand woven, scarves, wraps/shawls and blankets. 
 
In addition to the material woven in a tartan mill in Scotland, I am delighted to be able to offer these unique and very special creations in the Bards, Ovates and Druids Tartan. 
The wool & silk are dyed at home using only natural plant dyes, then hand woven on a small loom. Each one is made individually to order, and takes about 2-4 weeks to make from start to finish. 
 
The wool comes from the Falkland Islands. Not only does this support cottage industry, but it is the softest wool in the world. The sheep are continuously washed with rain blown in from the Southern Atlantic Ocean, meaning the wool contains abundant natural oils. There are no scrubby bushes in the fields for the wool to get caught on, so does not get stretched and snagged, nor are there bits of twig to comb out before spinning. All of this results in a soft, warm, non itchy wool, that feels and looks beautiful.
